Oh Baby! Postpartum & Baby Product review
If you’re anything like me, once you discovered you were pregnant, you started following all of the instagram moms, brands, and joined the popular mama facebook groups. It had been 7 years since I had my first child so it was time for me to catch up on all of the new information and figure out what I really needed on my baby registry. There is an incredible amount of information on the internet, but the products I gravitated towards weren’t the ones that Instagram ads catered to me. The products I researched were ones other Moms I knew raved about. I trust a Mom over a paid advertisement any day! I’ve learned so much in the first 6 months of newborn life and it’s my hope to make your life a little easier by sharing my experience. So here are my “can’t live without” baby & postpartum products.
DIAPERING
Okay, I was surprised by this one. I was team Pampers all through my first pregnancy and the reviews are crazy out there for Pampers PURE. However, a mommy friend of mine sent me a box of Huggies little snugglers and I haven’t turned back. Guys, you don’t know how many pieces of clothing were ruined in my son’s first two months of life from MAJOR BLOWOUTS while I was using Pampers. I couldn’t get the stains out and the Pampers just weren’t cutting it. I switched to little snugglers and haven’t had ONE poopy item of clothing. I haven’t had any diaper emergency clothing changes while out with him. It’s been a MASSIVE blessing. For some reason in my mind Huggies were for the rich folks, but their prices are competitive with pampers. So ADDED bonus I am not spending more!
Also, when diapering, remember to lay the diaper flat and pull out the extra ruffle material that’s made to be a protective ring around your baby’s thighs when putting on a new diaper. That will help with keeping all the yucky stuff inside and not getting out!
SLEEP
Oh sleep, how we mourn the loss of a good night’s rest during the first year of our baby’s life… LOL! Sleep is definitely one of the most challenging aspects of the newborn stage. There’s no one-size-fits-all fix for it either. There are a few things that we can do to help our baby’s circadian rhythm during naps and nighttime.
One of the things we can do is keep our baby’s naps consistent, not necessarily the timing, because that will vary at the beginning of your baby’s life, but by providing a consistent atmosphere. This is why you need a good sound machine. I used mine incorrectly for about two months. I used to place the machine on the floor right beside the crib. However, I learned to put the sound machine near the door of my little one’s room or a few feet away from their bed. The point isn’t to drown out every single noise, but to provide a sound barrier for when loud noises in your house happen.
My little one also struggled with acid reflux so I’ve tagged a few products that really helped with this!
FEEDING
Okay, this one is uber important. If you don’t have the right accessories and tools for feeding your baby, your body will be aching! I’m talking about boob pain, back pain, neck pain, and abdomen pain… ask me how I know. You will be feeding your baby every two hours for a while! Especially if your little one is a big, hungry baby like mine. Investing in these products are worth the money you spend. I tried to go around buying some of these items and ended up buying them after I couldn’t take it anymore. With a new baby and no time, just TRUST me, go ahead and add these to the cart.
