Passion Trumps Fear
It is time to stop procrastinating your dreams.
Stop investing energy in formulating new perfectly executed excuses or situations to get caught up in that you redirect your path away from your dreams.
There is no simpler way to state the following: You are not serious about your life changing unless you change it.
If you don’t change it, then you will only create another excuse.
People are great at self-sabotage. It is way easier to blame circumstances in your life than to change the circumstances. If you think about it, the circumstances are actually most of the time created by you.
You picked your job. You picked that negative friend. You picked your apartment. You picked your college classes that suck.
Now, you can complain that these things keep you from what you are trying to pursue, or you can decide to redirect some of these things.
Maybe it’s time to switch jobs and switch up your scenery. Also, maybe your apartment costs too much and if you spent some time in the leasing office you might make a friend and end up getting a better deal. Maybe next semester you should pick a schedule that works for you. If you’re not a morning person, why on earth would you choose the 7am course over coming in on a Saturday for a few hours once a week?!
It’s all about perspective. Every thing is a moving part and it all can change if you redirect it. Do not sabotage yourself by allowing circumstances to shape what your life looks like. I am not talking about people affecting you. I am talking about the choices you make for yourself and finding out what works best for you. Nothing is ever final. The older you get, the more your realize that your life is completely in your hands and it is your responsibility to make it look how you want it to.
Passion trumps fear.
Stop allowing fear of making the wrong decision or taking the wrong step stop you from taking the first one.
Allow yourself the privilege of not being perfect. Pursue what’s in your heart and realize that it does’t need to be perfect at the beginning, or ever. What matters is that you are reaching out into the universe and grabbing that dream and taking steps (successful and unsuccessful ones) towards it.
Use my website and writing blogs for example.
I’ve been wanting to share my thoughts and encourage other women, but I was fearful that I was not qualified. My passion is writing and I love learning about life and love and humanity. I felt the pull to build my site and publish these articles, but self-sabotage said, “Your schedule won’t allow it.” “You have a two year old, are you freaking kidding me? You think you are going to have a quiet moment to not only think, but to write those thoughts out in a fluid manner?” “Why would people want to read what you write when google and self-help books are everywhere?”
I had to stop procrastinating and start taking advantage of any time that I had to work on what I love. Fear can not control me. It can whisper in my ear and of course it always will, but fear can not control me. I control me. I control my thoughts, my actions, my reactions, my work schedule, and my bank account. You get it.
I know you do. To whoever is reading this, I am proud of you and you can take that first step. Let your passion for life trump your fear of what life might do to you when you step outside of the normal.
