Do you Trust Him?

Do you Trust Him?

A daunting question I am faced with daily. Do you trust Him? Do you really trust Him?

When life is formidable, when you don’t know where or who to turn to, do you trust Him?

No, this is not a relationship post. Well, actually it might just be, but not the earthly type. This type is somewhere beyond this earth and holy. This is my attempt to dissect the relationship that I have with my heavenly Father. The most treasured gift that I have. Eternity in my heart and guidance in my soul. This is me writing from a place that I haven’t written before. A place of questioning and resolve. I am sharing this with you in hopes that you feel peace knowing that there is someone you can trust.

In the midst of life and all of its problems, who do you trust? When the difficulties of life are hitting you like a ton of bricks, who do you turn to? The struggle that you are currently facing can look like you are trapped within it. It can feel like you are in a large dark room and there is someone called anxiety who is constantly whispering to you. You may have heard anxiety before. You may have heard someone called shame before. You may have heard another one called fear. Anxiety can sometimes attack me at the strangest moments. I can be in the shower, I can be in a grocery store, I can be in a restaurant, I can be in my own room and panic starts to overwhelm me. The cause can be so meaningless sometimes, but it usually stems from my thoughts. It happens when I forget that my heavenly Father is right there, knowing every single detail and every single answer. When I type it out, it sounds a little foolish, but I’m sharing it to say that no matter what you are facing you have the choice to trust Him.

Do you trust Him? Do you trust Him to take care of your family, your job, your health, or your finances? Do you believe that he knows every need that you have? If you have spent any amount of time in the Bible than you would know that our God is kind, just, loving, gentle, gracious, and our safe refuge. In moments where you feel overwhelmed, do you meditate on His words and remember His nature or do you panic about earthly things that are all under his control? He formed you, He knows you, He is good to you, He is faithful, and He will complete what He started in you.

Do you trust Him? He not only is incredibly faithful to us but the enormity of his love should remove fear from our vocabulary. One of my favorite reminders to myself in the midst of any type of disturbance to my peace is that He is aware. He is aware of every moment of my life. He is aware of what I need. It’s up to me to be aware of his presence with me. That’s my responsibility. Fear is actually a response that I choose. If I am aware of his love and his nearness to me, I can tell fear to go to hell any time it tries to show up. Having a God like mine is like having the biggest baddest strongest Dad that will beat up any little snotty-nosed kid that tries it with me.

So do you trust Him? I know it’s not easy. Time seems to moving at the speed of light and problems will keep coming. However, you have a Father who knows what you need. All you have to do is trust and believe that he will always take care of you. It will not get easier and I doubt it will ever be easy to choose, but I would much rather keep my faith in Him than try to manage my worry, doubt, fear, anxiety, or problems on my own. I’ve done it, I’ve seen it, and the outcome is not pretty. We were never meant to carry anything on our own. He is here for us to trust in. He is here for us to ask questions. He is here for us when our prayers are just tears. He is here in the midst of our messes and he loves a good fixer-upper. Trust that He is near. Sleep easy tonight knowing that you are not alone. He knows the desires of your heart and you can trust Him with it, whatever it is. Trust me. ;)
