It's Temporary

It's Temporary

Have you ever asked for something... and then got it? And then later complained about what you asked for?

Several examples come to mind for me. Whether it was a different position at a job, a new puppy, or a new opportunity, the question that was answered has always come with a cost.

Change costs.

No matter what it is that changes, it requires payment. It could be payment in time. It could be payment in maturity. Change requires sacrifice.

So is what you ask for worth the cost for you?

And once you receive your answer, are you ready to actually put the work in?

I think we get so used to our cycles and patterns and normalcy that when we ask for something new we aren't really thinking to get prepared for the change coming our way. You have to be ready for the shift. Life moves in cycles. I am here to caution you to take advantage of the "temporary pains" of boredom, security, the doldrums; whatever it is to you.

Maybe you're single. You don't feel like it's temporary. It's been a whole year since your last breakup. Do you emphasize the lonely nights or do you place emphasis on working on an awareness of self? Do you spend hours looking online for a potential new guy or do you spend time listening and learning from people who have 20 years of marriage under their belt?

Have you decided to be an entrepreneur and start your own business, but you still have to work your day job? Take advantage of the extra paychecks and spend time educating yourself because the boredom, my friend, is temporary. Once you quit the day job and do your dream full time, your season of boredom is over and you have to run at full force!

Your season without a child? Temporary. Go on dates every weekend! Go on one for me! LOL

It's all temporary. Change is inevitable, but impatience will not develop nor prepare you for your next season. I've had a sticky note in my car for the past two years that reads "your impatience will fight against your promise". This has been a daily reminder for me to walk out each season. I struggle with being present, I'm usually in the future. If you ever see me with a serious look on my face it's not RBF. It's me thinking about what's next. In this season, I've been reminded it's all temporary. Each chapter is. We get through 100 pages of life and then flip to the next chapter title. Make sure that your focus is on the 100 pages that you are in.

Ask for more in life, develop and prepare yourself, and know that whatever season you're currently in is temporary. Change is coming, be ready for it. You are a wonder woman. Strong mind, Strong will, Strong heart. Keep investing in you, whether your current season is dry and boring or if it's sweaty and busy.

Don't forget, the comfortable and the uncomfortable, it's temporary.
